South African Reserve Bank Bursaries For 2015

South Africa’s central bank, the South African Reserve Bank, is offering bursaries to top performers who are currently in Grade 12 or those who recently matriculated. Bursaries will be awarded for FULL-TIME study in fields relevant to the reserve bank’s operations, such as Information Technology (IT), Law, Economics, Finance, Accounting and related fields.

What are the requirements for the Reserve Bank Bursary Programme?

A matric with good grades (above 60% aggregate)
If you are still in matric, you MUST have obtained more than 60% aggregate in your June exam (the marks are only minimums so aim higher)
Must be intending to study towards a qualification relevant to the operations of the Reserve Bank (e.g. Information Technology (IT), Law, Economics, Finance, Accounting or related fields.)
Must be intending to study FULL-TIME (Part-time or distance education will not be considered)
You have to be planning to study an undergraduate qualification

Return the completed form together with supporting documents (for example Exam results, certificates, university enrolment form (student number), or any other supporting documents) by email to OR send them by post or courier to Ms Vinessa Naidoo, Human Resource Department, South African Reserve Bank, 370 Church Street, Pretoria, 0001 before the closing date which is 30 Septermber.

Should you be successful and be funded by the Reserve Bank you will be required to work for the Bank on completion of your studies. While studying you will have to reapply for the bursary each year. The bursary will cover your tuition fees, books, and university accommodation. You will be required to work for the Reserve Bank during vacation holidays. If you are shortlisted for the bursary, you will be interviewed and tested.

ADvTECH Student Teacher Bursary Programme

For our 2015 intake we call for applications from interested 2014 matriculants and existing students studying in the following fields of specialisation:

Afrikaans First Additional Language (HS)
African Languages First Additional Language
Early Childhood Development
Foundation Phase

As part of the formalised Student Bursary Programme, subject to specific criteria being met, we offer students:

Up to a maximum of 100% payment of study fees, linked to academic performance
The option to study full-time or part-time through a tertiary institution of our choosing
Bursary Students who successfully complete the Bursary Program will also be eligible for placement within one of the Schools within the ADvTECH Schools Division.

Telkom Bursary Information Technology

Academic Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate: Mathematics and Physical Sciences minimum NSC Rating of 5 (60%), an NSC Rating of 4 (50%) in English and an aggregate NSC Rating of 4 (50%).
Tertiary students: Overall average minimum 60% and no failed courses or subjects

How to apply
Applications open on the 1st of March each year
Application forms can be collected from your nearest Telkom Centre for Learning (CFL).
Attach certified copies of your identity document and your most recent matric or tertiary results to the application form.

PricewaterhouseCoopers University Bursary 2015

Responsibilities / Output:
Must be studying towards a qualification as a Chartered Accountant (CA) SA at a University accredited by SAICA (the South African Institution of Chartered Accountants).

Bursary students are required to maintain a consistently good academic record at University and to pass the required number of subjects in each Academic year to PwC's satisfaction.

Bursary holders are also required to serve a three year (minimum) training contract with the firm on completion of their post-graduate studies.

This period may be extended depending on the value of the bursary awarded or the number of years for which the bursary is awarded.

Competencies / Skills:
Students at University must obtain consistent passes in all subjects.

Proficient in English with strong communication skills.

Must have participated in sport and / or other extramural activities at school and / or University.

Good interpersonal skills, drive, determination and leadership potential.

KZN Health Bursaries - KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health

How and Where to Apply:
All applicants may obtain a KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health Bursary Application Form from the nearest Government Hospital, Human Resource Department, to where your family home is in KwaZulu-Natal. DO NOT go to the nearest Government Hospital to where you stay while at University, it may not be your home town. You or a family member must collect and sign for the application form. You must return the FULLY COMPLETED form to the same Hospital you collected it from.

Who Can Apply:
A poster advertising the KZN Department of Health’s Bursary Program will be placed at all Provincial Hospitals, Internet, Clinics and Municipal Offices, and will clearly display the respective fields of study / scarce skills required by the KZN Department of Health. Please ensure that you apply for a bursary if you are indeed studying for a degree/diploma as captured and advertised on the poster per District. You may therefore not apply for a bursary if the field of study you intend studying toward is not captured /reflected on the poster.

When Can You Apply:
KZN Department of Health Bursary Application Forms, for each academic year, can be collected from all Provincial Hospitals from 01/05 to 31/08 of every year. Late applications will not be considered.

The Funza Lushaka Bursary (Teaching Bursary Scheme)

The Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme is a multi-year programme that promotes teaching in public schools. Full-cost bursaries are available to enable eligible students to complete a full teaching qualification in an area of national priority. Recipients of these bursaries will be required to teach at a public school for the same number of years that they receive the bursary.

Qualified recipients of the bursary must request placement in a province of their choice. The provincial education department (PED) concerned will determine whether there is suitable post available. If there is not, the applicant may be placed in a PED that does have suitable vacancies. Please note that bursars cannot choose the school in which they would like to be placed.


Applications for the Funza Lushaka bursary for 2015 will be accepted from 01 October 2014.
Please note that there are approximately 3500 new bursaries available in 2015. New applicants are advised to also pursue other funding opportunities.

What does the bursary include?

Applicants must not have a criminal record
Qualifying criteria for 2013 matriculants:
